The main objective of the Dakota United Recreation Soccer (BSL) is to provide all children, regardless of experience, an opportunity to learn more about the game and the basic skills needed to play soccer. We emphasize that learning is more important than winning.
This program is for Pre-K through 6th Grade. Recreational soccer is offered in the Spring and Fall seasons.
Fall recreation soccer typically starts in late August/early September and runs through mid-October.
Spring recreation soccer typically starts in mid April and runs through May. We schedule 6 games with practices during the week.
Teams normally practice once a week at one of the elementary schools or the Cottonwood Soccer Complex. The practice day, time and location are selected by the volunteer coach during Coaches Handout Night.
Games are typically held on Saturday's at the Cottonwood Soccer Complex on South 12th Street.
Teams are formed by grade and school.
All players should bring a soccer ball and water bottle to practices and games.

Spring 2021 Recreational Soccer for boys and girls from pre-k through 6th grade. Your registration includes a t-shirt to match your team. Registration closes March 31, 2021. Please share this page link with everyone you know interested so no one misses out. Late registrations are very difficult when making teams and placing shirt orders so...no late registrations will be accepted once teams are made. Please understand that in order to provide the best experience to our players and members, it’s important for us to hold firm on a final date of registration to properly plan the sessions.
When registering please make sure to choose the grade your child is in, the school your child is in (or will be in when they start kindergarten). Also be sure you have selected the appropriate gender. We receive many calls/emails after team placement goes out that kids are in the wrong grade or on the wrong gender team. We use the information you provide to us for placement.

Please consider volunteering to coach a team. (Our recreation program is successful because of our great parents that step in to help! Thank you!) Practices are held either at Cottonwood Park or in neighborhood school fields once per week on weeknights. Players are required to have a soccer ball, shin guards, and water bottle.
Age groups may be combined if registration numbers warrant. We do our best to keep players on teams with kids at their school and grade level so please choose your player's grade level correctly.
Once registration closes we need a solid week and sometimes a little more to develop teams (based on grade, school, number of kids registered, and parents that have volunteered to coach). This process is no small feat. Please be patient and we will reach out to you via email when your team information is ready.
Part of that process is making sure we have a coach for your team as all of our teams are coached by volunteer parents. We couldn't run this program if they were not involved. They give their time and are very appreciative of other parents that will help. Sometimes the smallest task of wrangling kids and keeping them on track during practices and on the sidelines of the game is what they need most. Please talk to your coach and see how you can help!
Once you have a coach, they will be your main point of contact as we can't keep up on all of the questions during this time in the office. Our recreation program brings in around 1,000 participants. Your coach will recieve a date and time to sign up for a practice time. We are given this information from Parks & Rec and have specific times available. We do ask coaches to work with their teams to find a time that works well for everyone however the coach does have the final say as they are the volunteer. Once your coach has their practice time/field chosen they will reach out to you and let you know. You will have one practice time and one game per week during the session.
Email is our main form of communication.
